View ESXi server virtual machine disks

Unisphere supports the discovery of vCenters or ESXi servers (using a read-only user) and integrates the information into Unisphere. VMware information is connected to its storage extents, and enables investigation of any storage-related issues.

About this task

This tabbed view contains details about the virtual machine (VMs) disks under the ESXi Server.

Steps

  1. Select VMware > vCenters and ESXi from the menu bar on the left side of the screen.
  2. Select a server virtualization card.
  3. Click View All Details.
    A view with multiple tabs is displayed.
  4. Click the Virtual Machines tab.
  5. Select a virtual machine and click the number next to Virtual Disks to view the following properties for the virtual disk.
    • Label—Label for the hard disk
    • Virtual Device Mode —Virtual device mode
    • Disk Mode—Disk mode
    • UUID—UUID
    • Filename—Physical disk WWN
    • Capacity(GB)—Hard disk capacity (GB)
  6. Select a virtual disk to view the following additional properties:

    Virtual disk

    • Label - The virtual disk label
    • Virtual Device Node - The controller the Virtual Disk belongs to
    • Node - The Virtual Disk controller ID
    • Disk Mode - The disk mode
    • UUID - The virtual disk UUID
    • Filename - The virtual disk filename
    • Capacity (GB) - The Virtual Disk capacity in GB
    • Capacity (MB) - The Virtual Disk capacity in MB

    LUN data

    • Capacity (GB) - The Virtual Disk backing LUN capacity in GB
    • Model - The Virtual Disk backing LUN Mode
    • Name - The Virtual Disk backing LUN Name
    • Vendor - The Virtual Disk backing LUN Vendor
    • Path - The Virtual Disk backing LUN Path
    • WWN - The Virtual Disk UUID
    • System - The System the virtual disk belongs to(this field is only shown for RDM).
    • Storage Group - The Storage Group the virtual disk belongs to (this field is only shown for RDM)
    • Volume - The volume name the virtual disk belongs to (this field is only shown for RDM).
    • Datastore - The Virtual Disk backing LUN Datastore that it belongs to
    • Type - The type of the backing LUN (RDM, vVol, VMFS)
